What is CBG?

CBG (Cannabigerol) is one of the many cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.  CBG is often referred to as the mother of all cannabinoids. CBG is produced early in the plants life cycle and is found in smaller quantities.  Both CBD and THC start as CBGa (Cannabigerolic Acid), an acidic form of CBG.  THC levels remain low due to the higher level of CBGa.  CBG levels decrease as the plants continue to grow.  This is why there are limited CBG products on the market.

CBG works with our bodies endocannabinoid system (ECS) by imitating the natural compounds our body makes.  The ECS regulates and controls many of our critical body functions such as sleep, inflammatory and immune responses, pain control, and memory.   There are two types of cannabinoid receptors in our body.  CB1 receptors are found in the brain and nervous system while CB2 receptors are located in the immune system.  CBG binds with both receptors at higher rates than other forms of cannabinoids.
